A team from Wellesbourne Sword Club who fence at Handy Cross Sports Centre High Wycombe won the silver medal at the Flying Friendship Cup event at the City University in Paris on 10 June.

This annual competition was initiated about 40 years ago by a former club member Joe Garratt a British Airways senior manager and is a closely fought affair with a team of 4 each fencing in one of the four disciplines.

The team consisted of Gerry Gajadharsingh men's foil, Gillian Worman women's foil, Malcolm Allton Sabre and Mike Skipp at Epee against teams from Air France, Iceland Air and Aeroport de Paris. (KLM did not put in a team this year).

This is the best result by the club for several years.

Mike Skipp also won individual gold in Epee,

This is the Flying Friendship Cup which Wellesbourne won in the early 1990's.
